THE WHERE

The muscadine grape is natural to South Carolina.  Cultivated variants of the wild muscadine are grown in many of the State's commercial vineyards - one being in Bamberg County in the City of Denmark.

OTHER POINTS

  • South Carolina growers can produce about 8 tons per acre of muscadine grapes annually.

  • Muscadines still grow wild throughout the state.

  • Wild and cultivated muscadine grapes are found in personal yards and gardens throughout Denmark.

  • Freeman's Vineyard is the only commercial vineyard in Bamberg County.
